INDIANAPOLIS — SPEED SPORT has learned American MotoGP rider Colin Edwards is expected to announce this weekend that his farewell season will be an abbreviated one.

Edwards, 40, announced prior to the season that this would be his last season of MotoGP competition, but the NGM Forward Racing rider is expected to make it public that he will compete in only four of the remaining eight rounds of the championship, including the season finale at Valencia in November.
