MUGELLO, Italy — Jorge Lorenzo extended his MotoGP point lead with a commanding victory in Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix at Mugello.
Lorenzo put his Yamaha Factory Racing bike into the lead on the opening lap and was never headed, leading the entire distance for his fifth victory in nine events this season.
Repsol Honda Team’s Dani Pedrosa started on the pole and chased Lorenzo the full distance, finishing second. He is also second in the standings, 19 points behind Lorenzo.
Andrea Dovizioso brought his Monster Yamaha Tech 3 machine home third with Stefan Bradl (Honda) and Valentino Rossi (Ducati) rounding out the top five.
