The 31-year old is no stranger to racing in Europe having raced in the 125cc class in Britain in 2000 before contesting the Australian Championships for a number of seasons and recently visited the Isle of Man to familiarise himself with the course, receiving tuition from TT rider liaison offiers Richard Quayle and John Barton.

He wildcarded in a number of 125cc Grands Prix in 2005 before switching to the Supersport division where he has since finished in the top six at the Macau Grand Prix every year between 2006 and 2009. Wai On progressed onto the Superbikes in 2011 finishing 3rd in the Chinese Superbike Championship.

“Splitlath Redmond Racing is definitely one of the more colorful teams at the TT Races,” said Paul Phillips, TT and Motorsport Manager, Isle of Man Government. “They have a hugely positive attitude to racing and are definitely making their mark in the TT paddock. I’m delighted that they have again made a major commitment to the TT Races and they have two riders at differing stages of their TT career who will both be looking to perform well for their fans in their home countries and on the Island.”
