American Riders Get Laguna Seca Wild Cards

MONTEREY, Calif. – Two American riders have been selected for wild car entries in the eni FIM Superbike World Championship event scheduled for July 4-6 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

AMA Pro Road Racing riders Americans Chris Ulrich and Larry Pegram have joined the starting grid to compete against the world’s best.

Pegram is coming off a good 2013 season, finishing sixth in the AMA Pro SuperBike standings with five top five finishes, including three podiums, while Ulrich finished 14th in AMA Pro SuperBike with a season-best finish of ninth at Daytona.

With half of the World Superbike season complete, the U.S. Round at Mazda Raceway is sure to see some hard fought race action as riders try to gain on the reigning World Champion and points leader, Tom Sykes. The British rider currently leads the Championship with 251 points, Sylvan Guintoli of France is second with 212 and his fellow countryman Loris Baz with 210. Englishman Jonathan Rea has 199 and Italian rider Marco Melandri has 179 to round out the top five.
