Guintoli’s Aprilia Sets Pace In Sepang

SEPANG, Malaysia — Sylvain Guintoli claimed the Tissot-Superpole for Sunday’s World Superbike race at Sepang Int’l Circuit during qualifying on Saturday.

Guintoli rode his Aprilia Racing Team bike his second pole of the season, beating defending series champion Tom Sykes by a mere .106 seconds.

Sykes will start second on a Kawasaki with Ducati rider Davide Giugliano completing the front row.

Toni Elias took fourth for Red Devils Roma Aprilia, with Marco Melandri (Aprilia Racing Team) fifth.

Loris Baz (Kawasaki Racing Team), who crashed on one of his qualifying laps, will start sixth.

David Salom was the top EVO qualifier in 12th aboard a Kawasaki.
