Rea Paces Aragon Superbike Sessions

ALCANIZ, Spain – PATA Honda’s Jonathan Rea topped the practice charts in both World Superbike sessions Friday at Motorland Aragon.

Rea topped the overall charts with a 1:58.180 lap, just besting the Kawasaki of defending World Superbike champion Tom Sykes. Sykes’ lap, 1:58.417, came in the second practice session

Chaz Davies (Ducati Superbike Team) was third in the second session, followed by Loris Baz (Kawasaki Racing Team), Davide Giugliano (Ducati Superbike Team) and Aprilia’s Marco Melandri.

Championship leader Sylvain Guintoli (Aprilia Racing Team) was seventh with round one winner Eugene Laverty (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) improving in the last five minutes to elevate himself to eighth.

In the EVO category Niccolo Canepa (Althea Racing Ducati) held on to tenth position despite a late crash.

In the first practice session, Rea’s 1:58.449 led the way ahead of Melandri, Sykes, Laz and Guintoli.
