FORT WORTH, Texas – On Friday morning Jeb Burton was introduced as a member of the NASCAR Next program, an industry initiative to help spotlight NASCAR’s rising stars.

On Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway the spotlight was directly on the 20-year-old Burton, who held off Ty Dillon to score his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory during the WinStar World Casino 400.

Burton, son of 2002 Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton, ran in the top five throughout the event, but it was the Richard Childress Racing duo of Dillon and Brendan Gaughan who dominated much of the 167-lap event. Dillon was the race leader with Gaughan in second when the third and final caution flag of the night waved on lap 139 when Ross Chastain bounced off the wall in turns three and four.

The field came down pit road for fresh tires and gas, with Dillon getting off pit road first ahead of Burton and Matt Crafton. Green flag racing resumed with 24 laps left and that was when Burton made his move.

Burton, using a big push from Crafton, was able to pull ahead of Dillon coming out of turn two after the restart. Dillon faded to third, but didn’t stay there for long. Within a few laps he had overtaken Crafton and set his sights on Burton’s No. 4 Chevrolet.
