NASCAR Lowers Truck Series Age Limit

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – NASCAR Senior Vice President of Racing Operations Steve O’Donnell confirmed Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway that NASCAR would be lowering the age limit for competitors in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series from 18 to 16.

Beginning in 2013, NASCAR will allow drivers to race in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series beginning at age 16. They will only be allowed to compete on road courses and oval tracks one mile or less.

Anyone under the age of 18 will not be allowed to race at larger venues such as Daytona Int’l Speedway or Talladega Superspeedway.

This new rule could open the door for drivers like Chase Elliott and Dylan Kwasniewski to race in the series on a part-time basis as soon as next year.
