Rowdy Busch Refuses To Lose!

The field returned to racing with eight laps left and Blaney did everything he could to hold off Busch, but with six laps left Blaney drifted up the track in turn four. That allowed Busch to take the lead as Peters charged around Blaney for second.

Peters quickly closed the gap on Busch and as the field charged towards the white flag, Peters drove low and got alongside Busch. The two drivers raced side-by-side for the entire lap. Peters did everything he could to beat Busch to the checkers, but got loose coming out of turn four and the two trucks made contact.

That contact sealed the victory for Busch while Peters crashed into the inside wall, crossing the line .050 of a second behind Busch in second.

“Coming to the checkered I knew I had it. I just had the momentum,” Busch said. “Timothy tried to throw the hail marry there I guess and wrecked a pretty good race truck. I hate it for him in doing that.

“We had a great ToyotaCare Tundra today. Messed up a little bit qualifying and then definitely got behind on pit road there with my penalty. I hated that I did that to my guys but just stuck in there and persevered.”

Peters said he gave it his best shot coming out of turn four on the last lap to try and beat Busch.

“I wouldn’t have done nothing different,” Peters said after the race. “I was going for it. I got really good bite on throttle off of four coming to the checkered flag and got a little loose and when I hit up and hit him it just knocked me back to the left.”

Blaney wound up finishing third after leading during the final restart of the race.

“Man, I was just too tight there at the end on two tires. We took two tires on that last stop and I was just way too tight to hold off Kyle,” Blaney said.

Sauter ended up fourth, followed by Elliott in fifth. Ty Dillon, James Buescher, Ron Hornaday Jr., Keselowski and Crafton.
