NEWTON, Iowa – Ryan Blaney became the youngest winner in the history of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Saturday night, holding off Ty Dillon to win the American Ethanol 200 at Iowa Speedway.

At just 18 years old, Blaney broke the record set by Kyle Busch when he won his first Truck race in 2005 at 20 years old. The victory was the first for Brad Keselowski Racing and the first visit to victory lane for Dodge since 2008.

The victory was far from easy for the youngster, who found himself at the front of the field when the caution flag flew in the middle of a cycle of pit stops with 35 laps left. With only three Trucks on the lead lap when the caution flew, Blaney made his pit stop for fuel and tires and easily held the lead.

After that, Blaney was able to hold the lead through four restarts. The final restart came with three laps left and Blaney managed to pull far enough away Dillon to score his first Truck victory in only his third series start.

“This is pretty incredible,” said Blaney, who started second. “It is pretty unbelievable. Hopefully we can get a few more here.”

Blaney’s father, NASCAR Sprint Cup veteran and former World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Dave Blaney, joined his son in victory lane.

“He does such a good job and thanks everybody that has helped him all along the way,” the elder Blaney said. “He does so good and catches on so quick, it is fun to watch.”

Dillon ended up second and took over the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship lead by eight points over Timothy Peters.

“I wanted it bad there at the end. We were coming,” Dillon said. “Ryan Blaney man, he is an amazing driver. I’m glad we didn’t have to race against him all year this year. He is a great guy and he really deserves this. I’m really proud of him.”

Todd Bodine finished third in the No. 11 Toyota, followed closely by Johnny Sauter and Cale Gale.
