HAMPTON, Ga. – Ty Dillon outdrove Kyle Busch in the closing laps of Friday’s Jeff Foxworthy Grit Chips 200 to claim his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series triumph at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Busch, making his first series start of 2012, had the lead with less than 10 laps left as Dillon chased in second. The lead didn’t last long, as Dillon charged to the inside of Busch to take the lead with five laps left.

Busch tried to stay close, but slapped the wall multiple times as he tried to close the gap on Dillon in the final laps. That allowed Dillon to drive the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet to victory by 3.227 seconds at the 1.5-mile asphalt oval.

“An amazing night man,” said Dillon, who started from the pole. “I’m just so happy and so excited. I finally did it, I won a NASCAR race. It has been my whole life and to finally do it is means so much. Man this is awesome.”

Dillon is the sixth different first-time winner in the series this year and the 11th different winner overall.

Busch ended up second and openly admitted that Dillon had the better truck in the late stages of the event.

“Just got beat,” Busch said. “We just got beat on setup tonight. I felt like the truck was decent, we just don’t have a good enough handle on it in the long run.”

James Buescher finished third in the No. 31 Chevrolet, followed by Parker Kligerman and Aric Almirola.

Timothy Peters currently leads the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings by six points over Buescher and nine over Dillon following Friday’s race.
