Logano Continues Dover Success
DOVER, Del. – A late-race two-tire pit stop was all Joey Logano needed to claim his third-straight NASCAR Nationwide Series victory at Dover Int’l Speedway Saturday afternoon.
It looked like Saturday’s 5-Hour Energy 200 was going to be another race dominated by Kyle Busch. He was in front of the field when Dexter Stacey spun in turn four on lap 162 to bring out the final caution flag of the race at the one-mile concrete oval.
All the lead-lap cars came down pit road under caution and Busch’s team opted for four fresh tires. Unfortunately for Busch and his No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota team most of the lead lap cars opted for two tires, thus beating him off pit road.
Logano ended up coming off pit road with the lead while Busch, the first driver with four fresh tires, ended up 10th for the restart. Busch immediately went three-wide entering turn one on the restart and was up to seventh with 33 laps left.
