BRISTOL, Tenn. – Joey Logano picked up his sixth NASCAR Nationwide Series victory of the season Friday evening, winning the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Logano spent most of the later part of the race trying to find a way around Kevin Harvick, who had taken the lead during a series of pit stops near the halfway point of the 250-lap event.

On lap 215 Logano made his move, sneaking by Harvick as the pair battled through lapped traffic at the concrete oval. Logano looked to have the race in the bag, but a pair of late caution flags gave Elliott Sadler, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and Kyle Busch a shot at getting around Logano.

On the final restart on lap 249, Logano was able to pull away from the pack as Sadler and Stenhouse battled for second. Stenhouse and Sadler got together battling for second, allowing Logano to cruise away to his sixth series victory this season and first at Bristol.

“This is one of the top three or four race tracks to win at,” Logano said. “It means a lot. It’s really cool.”

Logano said that his car needed time to come in, but once it did he was nearly unbeatable.

“We started the race and we weren’t bad,” Logano said. “It was a long run car. It took forever to get it going, so it made me a little nervous on those last restarts. I could get up through the gears good but I really wasn’t faster than the No. 6 car (Stenhouse) until about 30 laps into it.”

Stenhouse ended up second after a bump-and-run on Sadler on the final lap. Kyle Busch was third, with Austin Dillon and Sadler completing the top five.

Cole Whitt, Ryan Blaney, Michael Annett, Danica Patrick and Sam Hornish, Jr. filled the top-10.

Trevor Bayne, who started from the pole in his first series start since March, finished 16th after being involved in the final caution flag of the night on lap 242. Harvick, who led much of the event, was forced to pit for fuel late in the race and finished 15th.

The race was slowed nine times by the caution flag, the most in the NASCAR Nationwide Series thus far this year.
