Cessna On Board With EGR & McMurray
CONCORD, N.C. – Earnhardt Ganassi Racing revealed Wednesday during the NASCAR Sprint Media Tour hosted by Charlotte Motor Speedway that the Cessna Aircraft Company will sponsor Jamie McMurray in select events during the 2013 season.
Cessna, which is owned by parent company Textron, will also serve as the primary sponsor of IndyCar ace Dario Franchitti and Grand-Am stars Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas in one event each this year. Fellow Textron-owned companies Bad Boy Buggies, E-Z-GO and Bell Helicopters will also appear in some capacity on all the various Chip Ganassi-owned race cars this year.
“I don’t know how many people are announcing new sponsorships this week, but we are pretty glad to have one,” said Ganassi, co-owner of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing. “To have a company like Textron, with their Cessna brand, Bell and E-Z-GO golf carts, to have them have the courage to come into the sport I think says a lot about getting on offense and not managing (their company) with defense.”
Cessna will back McMurray in 10 events this year. McDonald’s will back the No. 1 Chevrolet in 15 events, with Bass Pro Shops (two), Banana Boat (one) and LiftMaster (one) also returning to sponsor McMurray. Additional sponsorship for McMurray will be announced later.
Bass Pro Shops had previously been McMurray’s primary sponsor, but the company has shifted its focus to the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet driven by Tony Stewart. Cessna essentially fills the hole left by Bass Pro Shops when they opted to move to SHR.
