TALLADEGA, Ala. – Rain continued to toy with the event schedule at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday, forcing NASCAR to cancel Sprint Cup qualifying.

Because he was fastest yesterday in practice, Carl Edwards will start from the pole for Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 at the 2.66-mile superspeedway. Michael Waltrip Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. will start alongside him.

Marcos Ambrose will start third, followed by Joey Logano, Ryan Newman, Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne.

The No. 81 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driven by Elliott Sadler, because it was the lowest in the owner championship standings, was the only car that failed to qualify.
