WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Kurt Busch was fastest in the only practice session for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Friday afternoon at Watkins Glen Int’l.

Busch jumped to the top of the board in the final moments of practice, circling the historic road racing venue in 70.529 seconds at 125.005 mph. Ryan Newman also put down a fast lap in the final moments of practice, finishing the session in second.

Brad Keselowski, who led a wet NASCAR Nationwide Series practice earlier in the day, was third fastest. Former Watkins Glen winners Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon completed the top five in practice.

The practice was stopped late when Patrick Long, who is making his series debut this weekend for Inception Motorsports, lost a motor. Denny Hamlin and Jeff Burton both crashed in the oil from Long’s motor, forcing both teams to backup cars.

Rain forced the cancelation of the first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice at Watkins Glen Friday, making this session the only chance for teams to test out their cars before qualifying Saturday.

Hurry and enter! Winners will be announced Saturday at the Knoxville Nationals finale! Chance to win a $2,500 VIP prize package to the 2013 Knoxville Nationals and be on Donny Schatz’s pit crew!
