Rain Hands Keselowski Las Vegas Pole

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series cars never made it on track Friday because of rain. As a result, Brad Keselowski will start from the pole for Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. (NASCAR Photo)

LAS VEGAS – Rain washed out on-track activity for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Friday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, handing the pole for Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500 to reigning series champion Brad Keselowski.

“It is one of the perks I guess of being the champion in the first few races,” Keselowski said. “Obviously with the rain coming you are kind of getting a great deal there. That is the first time I have had a decent starting position in a rainout.”

The field will be set by 2012 owner points, with Keselowski and Clint Bowyer on the front row. The rest of the top five will be Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne and Greg Biffle. Denny Hamlin, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon will fill the remainder of the top-10.

Mike Bliss will be the only driver to miss the race.
