Rain Postpones Preseason Thunder

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams will have to wait until Friday to make laps at Daytona Int’l Speedway.

All on-track activity at Daytona Int’l Speedway for Thursday was cancelled because of persistent storms that soaked the 2.5-mile superspeedway. Preseason Thunder will attempt to kick off Friday morning at 9 a.m.

NASCAR officials indicated that the Sprint Cup portion of the test will not bleed over into Saturday. The test will end on Friday as scheduled, but will go past the previously announced 5 p.m. end time. How far past 5 p.m. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams will be allowed to test has not been decided.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series is scheduled to test at Daytona on Saturday and Sunday, followed by NASCAR Camping World Truck Series testing on Monday and Tuesday.
