TBR Signs Drissi For Sonoma
MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Former Trans Am Series champion Tomy Drissi will join Tommy Baldwin Racing at Sonoma Raceway to drive the No. 10 Chevrolet this weekend.
Drissi will make his fourth NASCAR start and first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start when he gets behind the wheel of the No. 10 Ice Age: Continental Drift Chevrolet for the 110-lap event.
Drissi has scored wins in the American Le Mans Series and Trans Am, and has starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, NASCAR K&N Pro Series and Pirelli World Challenge.
This season, the Trans Am champion competed in events in both the American Le Mans Series and Pirelli World Challenge. While not in the race car, Drissi, born in Hollywood, Calif., owns an advertising firm that produces upcoming film displays for cinemas.
“I am humbled to be able to drive with TBR in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and represent Ice Age: Continental Drift,” said Drissi. “It is an honor to mix both of my worlds on America’s biggest racing stage and to be racing the same number as Danica Patrick did in the Daytona 500 and other races this year. Our goal this weekend is to get a solid finish for TBR and some good exposure for Ice Age. Thanks to TBR for working hard this year on the points. A special thanks to Mike Cesario from Racers Drive for helping TBR and myself get together for this opportunity.”
TBR previously made three starts on road courses in the NSCS. Ron Fellows posted the teams best start of 21st at Watkins Glen in 2010 and best finish of 30th at Watkins Glen in 2011. The team will have two entries in the event with Drissi in the No. 10 Chevrolet and Dave Blaney in the No. 36 Chevrolet.
“We are thrilled to have Tomy in the car,” said team owner Tommy Baldwin. “He is a good road course driver and a fun guy to be around.”
