Three Cup Teams Extend With Toyota

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Joe Gibbs Racing, Michael Waltrip Racing and JTG Daugherty Racing have all agreed to contract extensions with car manufactuer Toyota.

The extensions were announced as part of the 2013 Toyota Camry Sprint Cup car reveal today at Toyota Racing Development’s Salisbury, N.C., facility.

“Toyota has been the cornerstone of MWR,” said Michael Waltrip, co-owner of Michael Waltrip Racing. “They took a chance on us in 2007 and together we have matured into who we are today. It was an honor to be part of the freshman class. Knowing we will be with Toyota for the next several years gives our drivers, our team members and our sponsors a sense of stability and confidence. MWR will be able to continue its competitive rise because we are insured Toyota’s tier one level resources. Toyota is a partner in the truest sense of the word.”

Michael Waltrip Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing currently field three full-time Sprint Cup entries, while JTG Daugherty fields one full-time team.

Joe Gibbs Racing has won 42 Sprint Cup events since joining Toyota in 2008, while Michael Waltrip Racing has won two events with Toyota.

The length of the contract extension were not revealed.
