Venturini Will Be First Female Co-Anchor

CONCORD, N.C. – Wendy Venturini will make her co-anchor debut in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series booth for the Performance Racing Network at New Hampshire Motor Speedway during the Sylvania 300 on Sept. 21.

To prepare for her NSCS radio debut Venturini has gained valuable co-anchor experience by working alongside PRN’s president and co-anchor Doug Rice as well as co-anchor Mark Garrow in the NASCAR Nationwide Series booth since 2012.

“Wendy has an incredible knowledge of our sport and for the past two seasons has been co-anchoring multiple Nationwide Series races on PRN. She has steadily become more comfortable in that role and is ready for a Sprint Cup broadcast,” said Rice.

Venturini’s debut in the New Hampshire Motor Speedway booth will mark the first time a female has co-anchored a NSCS radio broadcast, a milestone Venturini never set out to accomplish but is more than thrilled to reach.

“While I’ve never set out to be the first woman on a list of firsts in our sport, life has brought me to situations such as these,” said Venturini. “Doug Rice believes in what I’ve contributed over the last decade in NASCAR, and I have a deep appreciation for the support given to me by the entire PRN team in this history-making moment.”

Venturini who grew up around racing following her father as he competed in the NSCS and the ARCA Re/Max Series, started her broadcasting career hosting Race City Review, a local flavor racing show, on the Adelphia Cable Network in 2001.

Since then she has gone on to expand her broadcasting career by pit road reporting for all of NASCAR’s three major series, serving as an analyst since 2004 for SPEED and FOX Sports 1’s NASCAR Live, NASCAR Race Day, NASCAR Victory Lane and practice and qualifying session as well as becoming the first woman to call an entire race on a national level during the July 2007 NSCS race at Infineon Raceway for DirecTV.
