Cameron Hayley Impressing Out West
DACONO, Colo. – In just his second full year of competition in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, teenager Cameron Hayley is turning in consistent finishes similar to that of a veteran contender.
Hayley – a member of the NASCAR Next program, an industry initiative to help spotlight NASCAR’s rising stars – kicked off his 2013 campaign by winning the inaugural UNOH Battle at the Beach non-points event at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
Approaching the midway point of the season, the Canadian driver from Calgary, Alberta is third in the championship standings. He is 11 points out of first, with top-five finishes in five of the first six races.
Hayley – who just celebrated his 17th birthday – looks to continue his string of strong finishes when the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West heads to Colorado National Speedway for the Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts 150 on Saturday, July 27.
Hayley speaks with confidence when he talks about CNS. He finished third there last year in his first visit to the three-eighths-mile track just north of Denver.
“Colorado was a track I was not familiar with at all last year, but we were really good,” Hayley said. “To go there this year, I’m always a lot better on track that I’ve been to. Going back for the second time, it should be a really good race.”
