Larson To Wheel Battle At The Beach Modified
MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Kyle Larson, who won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship in his rookie season last year, will pilot a modified in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour portion of the upcoming UNOH Battle at the Beach at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
Larson, who won 28 races last season in various divisions, including stock cars, sprint cars and midgets, will drive the GP Motorsports modified in what is “for now” a one-race deal.
Kevin “Bono” Manion, crew chief for Jamie McMurray, in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and co-owner of the Modified Tour machine that has been wheeled to numerous victories in the series in recent years, informed National Speed Sport News that Larson will be in the seat for the inaugural Battle at the Beach.
Manion shares ownership of the car, which will be sponsored by Menards, with Mike Curb and Gary Putnam.
The Feb. 18-19 Battle at the Beach will feature the K&N East, Whelen Modified Tour and NASCAR late models in three separate races on a temporary four-tenths-mile oval on the backstretch at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
Larson is also expected to be an entrant in the K&N East portion of the event.
