Moffitt Shatters Magic Mile Qualifying Mark

LOUDON, N.H. – Brett Moffitt set a track record in winning the pole during NASCAR K&N Pro Series East qualifying for the G-Oil 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Friday.

The 20-year-old from Grimes, Iowa – who leads the championship standings – turned a lap of 29.648 seconds (128.467 mph) to garner his third pole of the season, the eighth of his career and his third at the Magic Mile.

Hattori Racing Enterprises swept the front row as Moffitt’s teammate Sergio Pena was second quickest with a lap of 29.700 seconds (128.242 mph).

Kyle Larson, in his first visit to New Hampshire, was third fastest among the 40 drivers who turned a lap in trying to qualify for one of the 36 starting spots. He was followed by Corey LaJoie and Chase Elliott. Completing the top 10 were Darrell Wallace Jr., Cale Conley, Ben Kennedy, Ryan Gifford and Dylan Kwasniewski.

Moffitt, who leads Larson by 20 points in the standings, is the defending winner of this race and has an active streak of five-consecutive top-five finishes at NHMS. Driving the No. 11 Nitro Circus The Movie 3D Toyota, he leads the series this season in top fives (8), top 10s (tied, 9) and laps led (508). He’s led laps in six of 10 events.
