Richards Rolls At San Luis Potosí

SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico – Homero Richards dominated en route to victory during Sunday’s NASCAR Toyota Mexico Series event at Autódromo Potosino.

Richards, driver of the No. 20 NEXTEL Racing Toyota, started from the 10th position and took the lead on lap 28 from José Luis Ramírez. Richards held the lead through lap 143 before making a pit stop for routine service. The Mexico City-based driver quickly regained the lead on lap 159 and never surrendered it again. He went on to lead a race-high 208 laps and beat runner-up Rubén Pardo to the line by .392 second.

It was the 12th series career victory for Richards, who opened the season with a fifth-place finish at Phoenix Int’l Raceway, and his eighth win since the beginning of the 2011 season.

Carlos Contreras – making his season debut – finished third while pole sitter Antonio Pérez crossed the line in fourth place. Freddy Tame Jr. scored his 21st career top-five finish with a fifth-place effort in the Potosina 200.
