Ruston Lands K&N East Series Ride

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) announced today that Super Late Model standout Kenzie Ruston and Turner Scott Motorsports will team up and compete full time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) in 2013.

TSM, which currently houses NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) teams, will be expanding their operation into the NKNPSE ranks with five entries with two entries running a partial schedule.

Ruston, originally from El Reno, Okla., got her start in racing at the 0.2-mile Lil’ Texas Motor Speedway in the Bandolero division. After two successful seasons, Ruston moved up to the Legends cars in 2009, winning seven championships in her first season and becoming the first female to win an asphalt national championship.

In 2010, Ruston moved up to compete in Super Late Models, recording multiple top-10 finishes. In 2011, Ruston had a breakout season, becoming the first female to lead laps and finish in the top-10 in her first Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) race. In her four ARCA starts, Ruston had two top-10 finishes. Ruston also competed in the ARCA/CRA Super Series and claimed victory at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, becoming the first female to win an ARCA/CRA event. This past racing season, Ruston competed full time in ARCA/CRA and added to her list of many “firsts.” In the 19 events she competed in, Ruston scored six top-five and 12 top-10 ten finishes, and was voted Speed51.com’s National Short Track Most Popular Driver, the first female to win the award since its establishment six years ago.

“Steve Turner and Harry Scott Jr. have built an industry-leading organization and it’s an honor to be able to join them in their new venture into the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East,” said Ruston. “It’s going to be a great year under the leadership of Mike Greci. There’s a lot of experience in this shop and I feel like we can use that to our advantage and be very successful on the track. Being able to make the leap up to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East is what I’ve worked my whole career towards and it’s becoming a reality. I’m just excited to get to Bristol Motor Speedway and get the season started.”

“I’ve been fortunate enough to watch Kenzie [Ruston] grow up and progress through her career,” said Turner Scott Motorsports co-owner Steve Turner. “Kenzie has the willingness to want to learn and become a great race car driver, and I am happy to give her the chance to advance her career and have her race against some of the best in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. I know she has the talent to do well and we are expecting big things out of her this season.”

Details regarding Ruston’s sponsor, crew and car number will be announced in the near future.
