JOLIET, Ill. — Saturday afternoon’s Dollar General 300 at Chicagoland Speedway was no contest. Kyle Busch dominated the NASCAR Nationwide Series event, leading 195 of 200 laps to earn his 10th victory of the season.

It was also Busch’s second triumph in as many days as he won Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. He became the first polesitter to win a NASCAR Nationwide Series race at the 1.5-mile superspeedway, claiming his 64th career victory in the division. It was his 123rd victory in NASCAR’s three national touring series.

“You always have to have good race cars,” said Busch. “This was an awesome race car here today.”

Busch drove his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota to a 1.616-second victory over Joey Logano, who wheeled the No. 22 Penske Racing Ford, while point leader Sam Hornish Jr. finished third in the second Penske Ford.

“We decided that we needed to tighten up there at the end and it was just too tight there at the end of the race to keep up with Kyle, but we gained another point and that’s what we needed to do,” Hornish said. “Third isn’t quite as good as we wanted to do, but when you are running for a championship, we did what we needed to do.”

Austin Dillon, Hornish’s closest challenger in the standings, finished fourth in his grandfather Richard Childress’s Chevrolet.

Fifth went to Dale Earnhardt Jr., who drove his JR Motorsports Chevrolet.

Hornish leads Dillon by 17 points in the standings.
