More Rain Gives Vickers Nationwide Pole

LAS VEGAS – Rain continued to wreck havoc at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Friday evening, canceling NASCAR Nationwide Series practice and forcing NASCAR to call an audible for Saturday morning.

Instead of holding NASCAR Nationwide Series qualifying Saturday, series officials decided to cancel qualifying in favor of an early morning practice session. As a result of qualifying being canceled, Brian Vickers will start on the pole for the Sam’s Town 300 based on owner points from the 2012 season.

Trevor Bayne will start second in his No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford Mustang, followed by Brian Scott, Austin Dillon and Ty Dillon. Brad Keselowski, Sam Hornish Jr., Parker Kligerman, Reed Sorenson and Justin Allgaier will start sixth through 10th.

Based on 2012 owner points Chase Miller, Brendan Gaughan and Kevin Swindell will miss the race.
