CONCORD, N.C. – Another race, another dominating performance by Kyle Busch.

Busch, driving the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota out of the Joe Gibbs Racing stable, led 186 laps en route to victory in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series History 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“It was a really great race for us,” Busch said. “We’ve had a lot of fast race cars this year and it is a testament to our team and Adam Stevens (crew chief) and the work the guys put in. They do such a great job for me and being able to go out there with some good driving cars and to lead a lot of laps, but yet put them in victory lane.

“I think it is just a true testament to how good our organization is, but yet how hard the guys work,” Busch said.

Polesitter Austin Dillon led the opening lap around the 1.5-mile oval, but on lap two second-starting Busch took the lead for the first time. Busch cruised through the first 150 laps of the race, but a series of caution flags in the final 50 laps made things interesting.

The mad dash to the finish began on lap 154 when the caution flag waved for debris in turn three. Sam Hornish Jr. was able to briefly grab the lead from Busch on the restart, but with 41 laps to go Busch took the lead back with Kasey Kahne in tow.

With 35 laps left the next caution flag waved when Travis Pastrana crashed down the backstretch. During the caution period all but six of the lead lap cars pitted for fresh tires, leaving Busch in the lead ahead of Kahne and Joey Logano.

The field returned to green flag racing with 28 laps left and Busch was able to hold the lead, but five laps later the caution flag waved again when Reed Sorenson spun in turn two. The green flag waved once again with 17 laps to go, but before the field completed a lap Dakoda Armstrong crashed on the backstretch to bring out the caution flag again.
