WEST ALLIS, Wis. — Principals representing Historic Mile LLC have been revealed as a potential group that could promote auto racing events at The Milwaukee Mile.
The Wisconsin State Fair Board chose Historic Mile LLC during a special session in late July as a possible promoter to replace Wisconsin Motorsports, which went out of business earlier this summer after replacing Milwaukee Mile Holdings LLC in that role during the off-season.
Wisconsin Motorsports failed to live up to the financial obligations of its sanctioning contracts with the Indy Racing League and NASCAR for races held earlier this season.
Historic Mile LLC, which is comprised of Tony Machi, Jim Beudoin and Steve Jones, who served as general manager of The Milwaukee Mile in 2009, signed a letter of intent with the Fair Board in late July.
The group must demonstrate that it has sufficient financial resources to fund track operations, pay sanctioning and licensing fees and cover overhead expenses.
The IRL has already announced it will not return to the historic track, which first held auto racing in 1903, next year, and NASCAR has yet to release its 2010 schedules.
