Another Victory For Carl Renezeder

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. – Carl Renezeder picked up his fifth-straight class victory in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Pro 4 Unlimited class Saturday at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park.

Eric Barron grabbed the lead on the opening lap, with Todd LeDuc, Kyle LeDuc, Renezeder and Rob MacCachren in hot pursuit.

Through the first four laps the top drivers behaved themselves and held their positions, but on lap five Kyle LeDuc got just into the right rear of his brother Todd’s truck in turn three. Todd held onto it though, and almost picked up a little launch forward from the incident as he was suddenly right on Barron’s back bumper.

Todd was hounding Barron for the lead on lap six, but then over-rotated slightly coming out of turn three on the next lap, which allowed Kyle LeDuc and Renezeder to close right down on him through the rhythm section. Kyle got by his brother in turn four, and Renezeder also made the move on Todd at turn one on the next lap.

Todd’s truck seemed to still be mechanically sound, but MacCachren managed to get by him as well by lap’s end, and when a full course caution came out on the next lap when Josh Merrell stopped in turn three

On the restart it was Barron leading Kyle LeDuc, Renezeder, Todd LeDuc, and MacCachren. Kyle LeDuc shredded a left rear tire on the restart, and with another full course caution for Corry Weller’s stopped machine, he had to wait for a legal chance to come into the hot pits for a new tire.

Kyle finally got his chance as the field bunched up behind the Pace Truck, and this moved Renezeder to second, with MacCachren now third, Greg Adler fourth and Brandon Bailey fifth.

On the restart, Renezeder was immediately onto Barron’s back bumper, but near the end of the lap, he then found himself fending off a short challenge from MacCachren. MacCachren then slowed in turn two on the next lap, and soon pulled off the track and out of the race.

This left Renezeder free to focus ahead, and on the next lap, he came in hot into turn two, got door-to-door with Barron, and with a bit of a bump, he forced his way by and into the lead. Barron picked up a right rear flat at almost exactly the same time, which sent him into the hot pits for a tire change.

That all but handed the victory to Renezeder, his fifth-straight class victory in 2013 and seventh-straight dating back to 2012.

Other Pro class winners Saturday included Todd LeDuc (Pro 2 Unlimited), Sheldon Creed (Pro Lite Unlimited) and Steven Greinke (Pro Buggy Unlimited).
