COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Sebastien Loeb and Peugeot destroyed the Pikes Peak Int’l Hill Climb record on Sunday during the 91st running of the historic event.

It was the first time Loeb, a nine-time World Rally champion, had ever attempted the 12.42-mile run up Pikes Peak.

Loeb earned the top starting position in the Unlimited category with his impressive qualifying pace and produced a time of 8:13.878 in his Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak, a minute and a half under the previous record set by Rhys Millen last year.

Romain Dumas, who was expected to contend for the overall victory in the Hill Climb, went off course during his run up the hill.

Millen was second overall and in the Unlimited category, timing in at 9:02.192. Jean-Philippe Dayraut was third overall and in Unlimited with his lap of 9:42.740.

Paul Dallenbach won the Time Attack class and finished fourth overall at 9:46.001. Pikes Peak veteran Nobuhiro Tajima was the Electric class winner and came in at fifth overall at 9:46.530.

Carlin Dunne — the overall record holder for the motorcycles at 9:52.819 — again was the fastest up the mountain on a motorcycle, clocking a time of 10:00.694 in the Exhibition Powersports class.

Bruno Langlois set a record on his 2013 Ducati Multistrada en route to winning the Pikes Peak 1205 class with time of 10:21.323. Jeffrey Tigert’s 10:32.964 time on his 2013 Honda CRF450 established a new Pikes Peak 450 class record.

Michael Coburn’s 11:05.874 time on his 2013 Walsh 450R set a Quad Modified class record, and Codie Vasholtz set a Pikes Peak 250 record at 11:24.792.
