LONG BEACH, Calif. – In a dominating performance Justin Lofton overcame a practice mishap on Saturday by another driver to be the class of the field on Sunday en route to winning his first Stadium Super Truck event during the Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Near perfect weather conditions blanketed Long Beach, Calif., the highly anticipated Round No. 2 of Stadium SUPER Trucks took to the temporary constructed asphalt street course of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

A Saturday afternoon practice crash by a fellow driver put the Lofton’s crew and SST crew to work overnight thrashing to fix bent bars and mounting on a fresh white Weekend Warriors Productions body in preparation for Sunday’s showdown on the streets.

During Sunday morning practice, SST officials determined that the drivers best lap time would be used for the qualifying order. With that said, Lofton wasted no time making himself comfortable navigating through the 11 twists and turns and four jumps of the 1.968 mi course. At the conclusion of the 20-minute practice session, the No. 6 had the quickest time of the 12 competitors with a blistering lap of 1:47:775. Nearly, two seconds faster than second place, Jeff Ward with a 1:49:615.

The starting line-up for the eight-lap SST Final would be determined by a complete invert of the qualifying times in practice, placing the Weekend Warriors Productions / Imperial Valley Full Plate truck to the back of the field, in the 12th starting position. As the green flag flew in front of a jam packed grandstand Lofton quickly moved to the front passing truck after truck and taking the lead on lap 3.

A restart on lap-4 bunched the field back up, but that did not hinder Lofton and the Weekend Warriors Productions truck as he went right back to work where he left off hitting all his marks on the tricky course to pull away from second place and secure his name in the record books as a Stadium SUPER Trucks winner.

“I’m super stoked to capture my first Stadium SUPER Trucks win. The outcome from Round No. 1 at Phoenix was disappointing, but to come out here today and put on such a dominating performance racing through the complete field is simply just awesome,” Lofton said. “Hats off to my crew and the SST crew for getting the truck back together after being rolled seven times the day before by a fellow driver. I appreciate the Grand Prix of Long Beach for giving us the opportunity to race in front of all these fans. I cannot wait to come back next year.”
