The one thing that made Arpin most nervous about driving a Red Bull Global Rallycross car was the high-speed jumps. He explained he didn’t get to practice making a jump, so the first time he did it was during his first race in Brazil in 2013.

“That’s what I was so paranoid about. My first jump in a Rallycross car was in Brazil at the X Games in the first heat race,” Arpin said. “They wouldn’t even let me jump leading up to that. They just said you kind of go with it when you have to. It’s different, but my Ford Fiesta I’m driving, they’ve got the suspension so tuned up in these things that as long as you jump right it is a smooth, smooth right.

“If you get it wrong, which I have a couple times, you can land pretty hard. It is definitely interesting,” Arpin said.

Arpin will join the rest of the Red Bull Global Rallycross competitors as the series invades The Dirt Track at Charlotte this Friday and Saturday. Arpin will be looking to score his first series victory in the town he now calls home.

“I can’t wait. Obviously this is home for me now and whenever you get to come home to race and sleep in your own bed at night and everything, it’s awesome,” Arpin said. “Obviously we’re going to a dirt track so that’s going to spike my interest. I’m going back home in two ways, I’m going back to dirt and I’m racing at home.

“Everyone at Charlotte Motor Speedway put in so much effort and so much time into making this such a great event. This year it’s a lot of the same track layout, but they’re adding a lot of new elements and it’s going to be awesome. It’s going to be really cool.”

Arpin is enjoying his new career choice, but said if an opportunity presented itself he’d absolutely give NASCAR another go. In fact, he said he’d race anything if given the chance.

“I’m open to any and all opportunities in all forms of racing. I just love racing and every opportunity I get,” Arpin said. “As far where I’m at right now, I’m happy and I’m having the time of my life. I hope I’ve found a new home here for sure.”
