Gronholm Tops Texas Rallycross Qualifying

FORT WORTH, Texas – Global Rallycross Championship points leader Marcus Gronholm earned the top seeding Friday morning in the qualifying session for Hoon Kaboom Texas at Texas Motor Speedway.

Gronholm ran a fast lap of 26.116 seconds on the layout in his No. 3 Best Buy Mobile/OMSE 2012 Ford Fiesta to earn the top seed among the 18-car field for Saturday’s heats that begin at 3:30 p.m. CT.

Tanner Foust, Gronholm’s Ford Racing teammate, led an American contingent to four of the top six seeds as he was second quickest at 26.125 seconds in the No. 34 Rockstar Energy Etnies Ford/OMSE 2012 Ford Fiesta.

Liam Doran was third at 26.408 seconds and followed by Americans Ken Block, Samuel Hubinette and Brian Deegan.

Block was fourth with a lap of 26.416 seconds, Hubinette fifth at 26.715 seconds and Deegan sixth at 26.753 seconds.

Gronholm will open as the top seed in the 1A heat, Block in 2A, Doran in 3A and Foust in 4A.
