TORC Creates Huseman Memorial Cup

CRANDON, Wis. – TORC, The Off-Road Championship, will sanction the Rick Huseman Memorial Cup at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster, Calif., the largest paying PRO CUP event of the year.

The series will now dedicate its points championship finale as the Huseman Memorial Weekend Presented by PEAK Performance, encompassing TORC’s final point races, a charity golf outing, a PRO 2/4 Rick Huseman Memorial Cup and the Traxxas PRO Light Cup race over a three day weekend Sept. 28-30.

The Rick Huseman Memorial Cup presented by PEAK Performance will pay $36,000 to the winner of the PRO 2/4 combined event, with second place paying $13,600 and $3600 to third. Each entrant will collect $360 with no entry fees being collected for this very special year-end non-points event. The purses are dedicated to Rick’s iconic plate number, No. 36.

The Traxxas PRO Light Cup race will also be on tap for the weekend, and it’s the second year Traxxas has put out a generous $20,000 plus purse for the exploding division. This year, the Traxxas Cup will be dedicated in the memory of Jeff Huseman. With $15,000 to win, the field is expected to be full of talent, including 2011 Cup Champion C.J. Greaves.

“As our final checker flag flew last year in Texas, the normal celebration of our champions became quickly subdued when news of Rick’s death quickly passed through the pit area. Many of the drivers and teams felt that our final event this year should pay tribute to a TORC Champion and off-road legend. Working with the Huseman family and PEAK Performance, the idea of a Memorial Cup quickly became a reality,” aid Kevin Miller, CEO of USAC Racing.

The magnitude of the event has led TORC Series Officials to move the season ending finale to be closer to Rick’s hometown with the return of short course off-road racing to Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster, CA. The TORC Series finale will remain the weekend of Sept. 29 – 30.

“Having a perpetual Cup dedicated to Rick is an honor and proves his legend will live on in off-road. I am so thankful to TORC, Traxxas and PEAK Performance for working together to bring the off-road community an event of this magnitude in Rick’s memory,” said Michelle Huseman.
