BROWN: We Did It!

KNOXVILLE, Iowa — We did it!

Winning last night’s feature was exactly what we wanted. It is like I’ve said all week long, we were not going to win the Knoxville Nationals tonight, but we definitely could have lost it.

By getting through unscathed and winning the race we earned a front row starting spot for the 53rd annual FVP Knoxville Nationals. We are in position to win the Knoxville Nationals and winning that race last night made me the happiest guy on the property. I am really looking forward to the opportunity that we have on Saturday night. We have done everything we could up to this point.

We don’t run today and we have some appearances to make, but we are just going to let it all soak in for a day. It is probably the biggest win of my career. It will be a lot more fun to visit with the fans on Friday.

I’ve been here before, having started on the pole and I’m not going to let that get to me. We are going to be hanging out with the fans, enjoy it and be here on Saturday night and make our best effort to get the job done.

I’m not going to lie. The Knoxville Nationals means a lot to me. It means more than anything in the whole wide world. From the earliest days I remember, I wanted to win the Knoxville Nationals. If you put yourself in position enough times, you’ll have that opportunity. It is a dream come true right now. I never thought I would be in this position, winning prelims and to be on the front row of the Knoxville Nationals. I am just tickled.

I have a great crew and a great family. My wife, Heather, is my backbone. To see my family enjoy these moments makes me more proud for them than it does for myself.

I like to refer to myself as a Knoxville Raceway local and the crowd here has definitely accepted me as that.

The most special thing that I took away from finishing second to Donny Schatz last year was the sound of that crowd when I got out of the car.

I know that if I could win this thing, it would mean more to these people in the stands at Knoxville Raceway than anything you could ever imagine. They may tear this place down, but I will be there with them helping build it back up.
