25th Micro Sprint National Open Oct. 23-25

JONESTOWN, Pa. — Linda’s Speedway has announced the 25th running of the 270 Micro Sprint National Open will be bigger than ever in 2014.

This year will mark the 25th running of the event held annually in Jonestown, Pa. The silver edition of the race will be a three-day event and pay a potential $10,000 to win on Oct.23-25.

Time trials, heat races, a dash, consolations and a feature event will run each night. A driver that wishes to compete may run in all three nights if they chose to. The only stipulation that would keep a driver from competing is if that driver has already qualified for the Saturday’s feature.

The three-day format will not require drivers to be on hand each night.

The Thursday and Friday preliminary races will be used to set the top 16 starting spots in Saturday’s National Open A-Main starting lineup. Drivers that finish first through eighth on Thursday will fill the inside eight rows while the drivers that finish first through eighth on Friday will secure spots on the outside eight rows. The drivers finishing ninth and 10th both nights will be given the option to hold a spot in the B main Saturday night starting in positions one through four.

Friday night’s card will include the Race of Champions.

Saturday’s format will change slightly from the prelim night’s racing. On Saturday drivers will again run time trials to be placed in heat races. This will give a driver the chance to race only Saturday and still have a possibility to make it into the feature. The downfall is they will start no better than 17th. Heat races will be run with drivers filing into the alphabet mains from there. Accompanying the prelisted events will be the 16- car Front Row Challenge.

The 16 drivers locked into Saturday’s main event will race in head to head match races until only two drivers are left. Those two drivers will race to see who will earn the pole position for A-Main. The winner will be given the option to start in the last spot, and if they can win the event from last they will win the $10,000 prize. If the winner of the Front Row Challenge elects not to take the offer, it will pass to the second-place starter. The National Open A-Main will run 50 laps with a pit stop at half way.

There will be an added bonus for race fans in attendance at the National Open. Fans will be paired with the 16 drivers in the Front Row Challenge. If their driver wins the $10,000 there will be a monetary award presented to that fan.

The 600 Sprints will also be part of the weekends racing taking to the track on Friday and Saturday nights.
