Balluzzo Speeds In Langley Modifieds
HAMPTON, Va. – Shawn Balluzzo started on the pole, at 90.006 mph, and led all the way to win the Larry King Law Modified event at Langley Speedway Saturday, which was extended from 50 to 52 laps by a late caution flag.
Jimmy Humblet moved up to second on the final restart and finished a car-length behind the race winner. Mike Rudy was third, followed by Danny Harrell and Scott Lawrence.
The race was interrupted by six caution flags.
Mark Frye qualified on the pole, at 79.879 mph, and took the lead for good on lap four en route to victory in the 40-lap Pepsi Grand Stock feature. Mark Claar nosed ahead on a restart to lead lap 3. On the next circuit, though, Frye rallied to regain the top spot.
At the finish, Frye was the winner by three lengths over Claar. Tommy Sweeney, Rodney Boyd and Ritchie German completed the top five.
Landon Florian moved out front on a restart at lap 5 and paced the field to the finish in a 30-lapper for the KeesVacations.com Pro Sixes. Bobby Hall was second to the stripe, nearly half a straightaway behind the winner.
Steve Williams was third, while Travis Wall and Pro Six rookie Dashe McLaughlin rounded out the top five.
Brandon Lorah started on the pole, at 61.404 mph, and led all the way to win the Rhonnda Claiborne, Realtor HRKC Pro Winged Champ Kart race. Due to three caution periods, the event was trimmed from 20 to 15 laps.
Tommy Jackson Jr. moved into second on the final lap and tailed Lorah to the checkers, finishing a kart-length back.
Josh Ayer was third, but failed to clear the post-race inspection. Charlie-Ray Lorah moved up to third in the amended rundown, followed by Ryan Hudgins and Shawn Gervais.
Richard Quinn regained the lead on lap 25 and held on to win a 30-lap contest for the Bojangles’ Enduros. Derrick Boggess, who led laps 3-24, nearly swiped the victory from Quinn at the checkers, but came up half a car-length short.
Dave Wedding, Scotty Buchanan and Ronald Klein tailed the lead duo to the finish.
