Blose Tops Third Bobik Memorial

CLEARFIELD, Pa. – The third annual Connor Bobik Memorial was held at America’s Motorsports Park Saturday night with Mike Blose coming home with the $1,500 top prize in the Randy Sterling Trucking Late Models.

Jason Mullen picked up his career first Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub Semi Lates, Dan Smeal picked up his second Harter and Sons Garage Street Stock feature while Jason Beichner won his fourth Quigley’s Pub Pure Stock main and Stephanie Ivory won her fourth Clearfield County Metals Four Cylinder feature.

The Micro Sprints were on hand for the first time and Bob Garvey Jr. won that event.

The late models were brought to the green with Sammy Stile and Scott Alvetro on the front row, with third place starter Mike Blose taking the lead before the first lap was in the books. Blose led the 30 lapper the entire distance, but several cautions and several drivers tried to keep his Ford powered No. 5 out of victory lane.

Stile was his toughest challenger as he hung with Blose the whole race and drew near several times. As the leaders began to work lapped traffic third place was heating up, as Alvetro, Dan Gill, Duane Taneyhill, Billy Eash and Doug Glessner were all jockeying for position. As they were doing that, 18th place starter Andrew Gordon was heading towards the front and joined the battle for the top spot.

While that was happening, Stile was trying to close on Blose, but Blose was not about to be denied as he held on the get his first ever win in the memorial race. Stile held on for second with Scott Alvetro in third, Dan gill was fourth and Taneyhill fifth. Heat wins went to Glessner, Blose, Alvetro and Stile while Rodney Phillips won the main.

The Semi Lates hit the track with the largest field yet, as eight cars signed in and seven answered the call for the feature, with Jason Mullen and Jamie Barber on the front row, with Mullen taking the lead at the start and Devin Goss in second and Denny Fenton in third. Fenton and John Eckenrod got past Goss before Eckenrod spun.
