Childress Breaks Through At VMS

JAMAICA, Va. — It only took rookie Stephen Childress six races to pick up his first win in the ultra-competitive Victory Lap Late Model division at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway Saturday night.

Childress grab the lead in the first twin 20 on the opening circuit. On lap 3 Justin Williams looked to get inside Childress in turn three only to be turned away. Childress then held off several challenges by Billy Tucker and then pulled away to win comfortably. Billy Tucker, Tim Shelton, Joe Ender and Anthony Kincaid rounded out the top five.

Joe Ender took the checkered flag in the second 20-lap late model feature with Justin Williams, Anthony Kincaid, Tim Shelton and David Padula completed the top five.

Hunter Shelton and Brett Adkins each won a sportsman feature.

Modified winners were Chris Arnold and Jimmy Duncan with Brandon Sandridge and Wesley Givens winning limited stock car races.
