Howard Wins Again At Grandview
BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. – Danny Snyder picked up the biggest prize of the season for the Late Model racers, $2,350, for winning the Jesse Baro Trucking Firecracker 40 Late Model race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. Duane Howard returned to victory lane in the NASCAR 358 Modifieds winning his eighth of the season and Joe Funk got his first career Grandview Sportsman feature victory.
For much of the Firecracker 40 it was a four car battle for the top spot with Danny Snyder getting the lead late in the first half and going on to victory. Second spot went to Sean Merkel followed by Ron Kline, Steve Nederostek (an early leader) and Chuck Schutz.
Coming from 16th starting spot Duane Howard was able to charge through the feature field and grab the top spot with 16 laps completed. Late in the 30-lapper for the Modifieds Doug Manmiller, who won the last feature at Grandview, charged up through the pack to grab second in the finish after gaining 24 positions. Third was earned by Mike Laise followed by Jeff Strunk and Kyle Follweiler.
The Sportsman main event, a 25 lapper, had Joe Funk taking the lead on the 16th circuit and going on to victory. John Kovatch IV was a close second followed by Kyle Borror, Brad Brightbill and Kenny Gilmore.
