Perchak Banks Selinsgrove Micro Sprint Prize

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Ross Perchak made the winning pass by Chad Thomas with just two laps to race for his victory in Sunday night’s 30-lap All Star Championship/Roger Spencer Memorial for 270 micro sprint cars at Selinsgrove Raceway Park.

The $1,000 win was the first of Perchak’s career at the one-fifth mile track. The Geek Photography $50 fast time award went to Perchak for his 11.822 second lap time over the field of 38 micro sprint cars. The Perchak Trucking and AJ Walters Trucking qualifiers were won by Perchak, Sean Stolz, Chad Thomas, and Tyler Snook. The Middleburg IGA presented the championship trophy to Perchak.

The start of the micro sprint car feature was plagued by several caution flags. Once the race stayed under green flag conditions, polesitter Nunzi Allegrucci led the way over second-place starter Sean Stolz.

On the 10th circuit, third-place starter Chad Thomas drove by Stolz for the second position. A lap later, Allegrucci’s car fell off the pace and Thomas inherited the lead. At the midway point, Thomas led Stolz, fourth-place starter Perchak, and sixth-place starter Tyler Snook. The race was stopped on lap 18 to refuel the micro sprint cars. Just before the race restarted Stolz was forced to withdraw his car due to mechanical issues. A lap into the restart, Cody Hauck flipped his micro sprint car hard in turn three. Hauck was not injured in the crash. On a lap 20 restart, Thomas dueled with Perchak, while 15th-place starter Mike Rutherford stormed his way into the third position. With two laps to go, Perchak drove underneath Thomas in turn two for the lead. On the final lap, Perchak had a convincing lead as both Rutherford and fifth-place starter Nick Aucker passed Thomas for the second and third positions. Thomas settled for fourth, while sixth-place starter Tyler Snook Snook rounded out the top five.

In the senior slingshots, Mark Sensenig started the 30-lap national tour event in the third position and passed original polesitter Dakota Barlet on the 22nd circuit for the lead using the inside lane entering turn one. Sensenig scored the victory over Barlett, Brett Bieber, Lowden Reimert, and Kurt Bettler.

Jared LaBagh started the junior slingshot 20-lap feature in the third position and wired the field for the win over Ryan Quackenbush, Dylan Hoch, Dakota Kohler and Tyler Peet.
