Rain Stops Port Royal Lidlifter

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – With absolutely no foreseeable avenue to have the overall facility and racing surface prepared for its scheduled March 15 season opener, Port Royal Speedway has cancelled the program.

Significant frost remains deeply embedded in not only the racing surface, but surrounding grounds as well and although temperatures over the next five days may inch into the 40’s, the long range nighttime low temperature prospects remain well below normal and daytime highs during the period from March 12 through March 16 are slated to be well shy of average.

This pushes hopes for the 2014 lidlifter to fall on March 22. The racing program will feature the 410 sprints, late models and the xtreme stocks at 6 p.m.

In addition, a test and tune practice session has been added to the schedule on Friday night, March 21, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The test session will be open to all racing divisions that are slated to compete during the 2014 racing season at Port Royal Speedway.
