Two In A Row For Satterlee
STRONGSTOWN, Penn. – The Lias Tire FASTRAK Crate Late Models were the main event in Friday’s Thunder Dog 25, paying $1000 to win, at Dog Hollow Speedway.
Andrew Satterlee came from the back of the 18-car field for his second straight win.
Ron Delano Jr. picked up his first of the season in the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models as did Jack Theys in the FWD 4 Cylinders. David Beahr notched his second straight in the Pure Stocks.
The Crate Late Models were in the limelight this week. Ralph Morgan, Jr. and Chad Shearer led the field to the green but the first try found a multi-car tangle in turn two. On the second restart Morgan wasted no time taking the lead. Morgan opened up a little distance between himself and Troy Shields, who was running second.
Satterlee moved into second on lap 12 after being sent to the rear early in the race. Satterlee chased Morgan and kept him in his sights. The pair diced through lapped traffic until lap 24 when Morgan got stuck behind a slower car. Satterlee used the opportunity to dive underneath Morgan coming out of turn four and as they exited the pair made contact with each other and the lapped car. As they crossed the start line Satterlee had the lead before the caution was thrown. Satterlee led the final three laps to score his second straight win. Morgan was second over Shane Weaver, Troy Shields, John Eckenrod, Corey Neal, Ron Smithley, Joey Valenti, Jeremy Shaffer and Josh Valenti. Chad Shearer, Morgan and Smithley were heat winners.
Ron Delano, Jr. earned his first Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model feature of the season.
Last week David Beahr didn’t get to take his photo in victory lane after the winner was DQed in the Pure Stocks. This week, heat winner Beahr, lead the first lap giving way to Ryan Claycomb. Claycomb led just three laps before he slowed coming out of turn four giving the back to Beahr. Marshall Detwiller trailed Beahr the final eleven laps to the checker coming up just a little short. Jeff Shaffer, Jr., Andrew Wallace and Mike Benton filled out the top five.
In the best feature of the night Jack Theys won the drag race off turn four on the final lap in the FWD 4 Cylinders for his first of the season.
