Waltz, Edwards Split Langley Wins
HAMPTON, Va. – Matt Waltz and Greg Edwards scored their fourth wins of the season as they split the Virginia Ship Repair Twin 64s for the ComServe/Verizon Wireless Late Models Saturday at Langley Speedway.
In the opener, Waltz started on the pole and led all the way.
Greg Edwards shared the front row with Waltz and held down the runner-up spot until lap 52 when he gave way to C.E. Falk.
While Waltz cruised away from the pack, Falk and Edwards staged a spirited battle for second over the closing circuits, joined by Nick Smith.
At the finish, Waltz was the winner by nearly a full straightaway. Edwards was second, followed by Falk, Smith and Casey Wyatt.
Waltz was due to start the nightcap from the pole. Instead, he was forced into his backup car and relegated to the rear of the lineup.
Falk started from the pole and led laps 1-4. On lap five, Edwards rooted him up the track in Turn four and took the point, while Falk fell to seventh.
Edwards was in firm command the rest of the way, winning by four car-lengths over Smith, who emerged on top of a second-place battle with Falk.
Wyatt was third at the checkers, followed by Terry Carroll and Duane Shreeves. Falk ended up sixth.
