Bouche Nabs First Of 2013 At Thunderhill

STURGEON BAY, Wis. – Dave Bouche brought home his first feature win of the season with a late race pass on Charlie Kroll at Thunderhill Raceway.

Other feature winners were Greg Gretz (IMCA Modified), Jacob Zellner (IMCA Sport Mod), Scott Boulanger (IMCA Hobby Stock) and John Sternard (Street Stock).

Action was halted in the IMCA Hobby Stock feature when Travis LeMaye broke an axle sending his car rolling. He emerged OK but his car suffered extensive damage.

Scott Reinhardt worked to high side around Dennis Weidner to earn the lead early on in the IMCA Stock Car feature. Former champ Charlie Kroll returned after a couple weeks off and his presence was felt early on as he battled Jeremy Anschutz for the runner up position. Point leader Dave Bouche joined in working to the inside of title contender John Anschutz for fourth.

Just past the midway point of the race Kroll broke away from the pack charging under Reinhardt taking the lead. Bouche was able to follow Kroll down low to the runner up position. Bouche latched onto Kroll’s rear bumper, with just three laps remaining Bouche ducked under Kroll out of turn four blasting to the lead. Bouche pulled away in the final laps en route to his first feature win of the season. Kroll scored a season best second, John Anschutz stayed a close with third, Reinhardt had another consistent night with fourth and Jeremy Anschutz completed and racy top five.

14-year-old Rookie Jacob Zellner pulled an upset scoring his first feature win in the IMCA Sport Mods.

The former National Karting champion raced from row 2 and to the lead around Jeff Lautenbach. Zellner then set sail leaving the battle for second behind him. Kelsy Hayes was the first to get through to second. Title contender Randy LeMieux Jr. and point leader Bernie Reinhardt began working through field and into the top five.
