Charlie Goes Wild At Seymour

SEYMOUR, Wis. – More than 120 cars took the green flag for the season opener at Seymour Super Speedway on Sunday afternoon.

Race fans saw Charlie Wild fight off Kyle Lentz to win in the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds. Other feature winners were Jeff Curtin (Fastrak Late Model), Brandon Czarapata (IMCA Stock Car), Jeremy Cota (IMCA Sport Mod), Jerry Kope (Street Stock) and Brian Johnson (Sport Fours).

Charlie Wild and Kyle Lentz drew the front row for the IMCA Modified main event. When the green dropped the duo set a blistering pace distancing themselves from the rest of the field. At the midway point Wild caught lap traffic at the wrong time and Lentz capitalized slipping by and to the lead. Wild battled back, racing door to door with Lentz.

With a handful of laps left Wild was able to retake the lead from Lentz, winning the caution free feature. Lentz took home second, Jeremy Christians a strong third, Mitch McGrath marched to fourth from row six and defending champion Jason Czarapata rounded out the top five.

Lentz and Wild raced side by side the entire race and never touched once, race fans showed their appreciation with a loud cheer for the spirited battle.

Defending Coors Light IMCA Stock Car champion Brandon Czarapata flexed his muscle leading every lap en route to victory.

Although Czarapata made it look easy, the battle behind him was fierce. Shawn Wagner and John Heinz were on their way to the front before they tangled resulting in a caution. Heinz was forced to pit lane with a flat tire and Wagner was sent to the tail end of the field. Chas Van Ooyen and Greg Gutt had good runs end with their machines suffering mechanical issues.
