Mullen Pockets $10,000 Clash At The Creek

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. – Some racers never earn $10,000 in their career, let alone win that in one night.

That is exactly what Mike Mullen accomplished Thursday night by winning the Clash at the Creek modified event at 141 Speedway.

The IMCA Modified feature saw twenty-four of the best drivers in the nation take to the green flag to start the fifty lap main event. Mike Mullen started on the pole by virtue of two heat wins on Wednesday night. Mullen opened up strong with a half straightaway lead by lap 10 over Darin Duffy.

Jeff Taylor worked his way around Duffy by lap twenty which was the only caution of the race. When the race restarted Mullen again forged ahead with Taylor in tow. Josh Long started thirteenth on the field and started knocking off cars as he ran a smooth race down low. Long made the trip to third by lap 30 but never got a caution that he needed.

Mullen entered lapped traffic with twelve laps remaining and took his time methodically. Mullen worked through two and three wide lapped traffic. Mullen scored the biggest win of his career as he led wire to wire. Taylor finished in the second spot with rookie driver Long in third. Duffy settled for fourth with James Tebon fifth.

In other action Thursday, Luke Lemmens earned his first career IMCA Stock Car win at 141 Speedway while Scott Boyea picked up his first feature win of the season in the IMCA Sport Mod division.
