Vochaska Hits Kokomo Big Time

KOKOMO, Ind. —Michigan’s Alan Vochaska came home the winner in the 25-lap late model feature race that highlighted round one of the Kokomo Klash 6 at Kokomo Speedway Saturday night.

The opening night of the Klash, featuring open-wheel cars, was rained out Friday night and was slated to be run Sunday evening at the quarter-mile dirt oval.

Vochaska, making his first appearance at Kokomo, a track known mostly for its open-wheel racing, scored the victory over fellow Michigan driver Chad White and Illinois’ Steve Thorsten, picking up $2,012 for his efforts.

Another Michigan Speedster, Brian Ruhlman won the 25-lap modified stock car feature over Andy Sprague and Collin Thirlby. Corey Partin was leading the event until Ruhlman made contact with the leader, sending him spinning.

Indiana veteran Lee Hobbs flipped his car after taking the checkered flag, but still won the 25-lap street stock headliner. Hobbs tangled with Rick Thomas as they battled to the checkered flag. Randy Petro won the 25-lap sportsman feature, while Mike Kingma bested Ryen Johnson in the 25-lap I-Mod division main event.
